Muslim women and their lifestyles, expressions and struggles are the subjects of Abu Dhabi artist Fatema Al Mazrouie’s artwork. Mazrouie, a UAE national from the country’s capital, tackles relevant political and social issues facing modern Muslim woman. She strives to capture how Muslim women express their religious beliefs, values and traditions. Her artwork experiments with different materials and techniques such as collage, acrylic, calligraphy and mixed-media in a way that promotes dialogue about Islamic rules.
